8-A-SIDE T20 LMS WINTER COMPETITION EASTERN SYDNEY DIVISION 5, SUNDAY 23 AUGUST 2020

ROUND 5: C.C.N.S.W.  v  ‘ARGIE BARGIES’  at  ROBERTSON ROAD, MOORE PARK MP8 ON SUNDAY 23 AUGUST 2020: REPORT BY RICHARD CLARK

Another “kite flying” day greeted the C.C.N.S.W. LMS team on Sunday and bowling first in these conditions was not easy. Despite Scott Williams taking a great catch off Peter Buruma in the early overs to dismiss their grade-level opening bat and a ‘floating’ bowled by Buruma the following over, the Argie Bargies had some decent batsmen who ran well between the wickets. They were also let off by a half dozen dropped catches under high balls swirling around terribly. Richard Clark took a good catch at ‘Cow Corner’ just inside the boundary, and Martin Speiser and Hayden Rolls (w) combined to execute a great run out, Luke Holman  bowled a good tight spell of spin, and then Williams, H. Rolls and Buruma finished the last 6 overs with some very tidy quick bowling. But their total of 4-172 was above par.

The C.C.N.S.W. batting failed to get any real momentum with the loss of early wickets and the opposition taking their catches (granted they were falling from a lower altitude!). Peter Rolls (22) again was a rock at the top of the innings and Buruma (35) had a great cameo before being given out to a bowler who had too much lip and just as much girth. H. Rolls and Martin Speiser added some solid runs to give the chasing total some respectability.
