Winning the toss was crucial with the impending rain. Who wants to field and then it rain and not bat? The first over was a high scoring one but we lost two quick wickets with Ben Gorham out for 4 and Scott Williams out for 1. James Bonkowski (35) and James Murtha (19) steadied the ship with a good partnership but when it was broken, a collapse of 5 wickets followed, leaving us in a nervous situation. Will Jacobs showed us why he hides at No 8 with a bludgeoning 52* including a home run giving us a defendable total.
With a fired up Scott Williams bowling with the breeze behind him, we tried to bully a few batsmen out. This did not happen but rather Jonathan Seifman’s guile led to an LBW and a catch. At the halfway mark we were well ahead. Coming into the final overs, just one more wicket was needed to break their back; alas we were not able to get the wicket and Cleveland Seamers won with 7 balls to spare. A great game of high quality cricket.
