ROUND 6: CCNSW v ‘BATTLING BATTLERS’ at ROBERTSON ROAD, MOORE PARK MP8 ON SUNDAY 30 AUGUST 2020: REPORT BY JIM HADLEY
Winning the toss on a beautifully warm morning we decided to put the opposition into bat. Mick Tarrant took the new ball and angled the ball into the stumps swinging it prodigiously into the Nor’easter. After his third (5 ball over) the captain took him off and sent him to third man with the outrageous figures of 5 for 11 “all clean bowled”. This was a performance of swing bowling not seen since Bob Massie at Lords.
Tom Speiser backed Mick up well bowling 2 batsmen out and Luke Holman bowling a couple of overs of off spin having the batsman in all sorts. Scotty Williams finished things off quickly, completing an “all bowled” innings of 8-37.
Peter Rolls (11*) and Richard Clark (27*) had no trouble knocking off the balance with Peter scoring off every ball he faced and Richard managing the odd boundary for a win without the loss of a wicket. With a bye next week and CCNSW golf pillaging our bowling stocks in our final round on 13 September, Peter Rolls has been sent to the nets to resurrect his bowling career.
