LMS T20 (8-a-SIDE) EASTERN SYDNEY SUNDAY  DIVISION 3  ROUND 6 v ‘HIGH STREET CC’ AT MP6, ROBERTSON ROAD, MOORE PARK ON SUNDAY 11 JUNE 2023: REPORT BY JAMIE MURTHA

In round 6 of the LMS winter season, the match started without a toss, instead the captains agreed on the outcome. We are happy to bat first in good weather!

Joel Uddstrom was unlucky and fell early, but the rest of the batters made starts as we put runs on the board. Wade Butler hit another brilliant 50* off 25 balls including four sixes, slamming several shots over mid-wicket and gave the tail some freedom to bat positively. Jonathan Seifman, Nicholas Kochanowicz and Declan Thomas all hit some big sixes. Jamie Murtha ran hard and pinched a couple of steals despite a knee injury. We never got bogged down as the guys put on a competitive 203 in 20 overs.

In defence, David Craig bowled with precision and was extremely economical, going for only 17 in his 4 overs. Jonathan Seifman was dangerous as usual taking 2 wickets, including that of the by then well set opener who scored 77. James Bonkowski ripped the middle order apart with a double play. Wade  Butler took a nice catch at long on and safely under-armed it to James at the bowler’s end, with the  backing up batter stranded at the keeper’s end. Bonkowski  thought long and hard about whether to take the bails off or throw the ball to our keeper,  Declan Thomas at the other end, so long in fact that the batter nearly made it back!

Jamie Murtha picked up a wicket with some dodgy off-spin and Joel Uddstrom had a nice run out from deep square-leg too.

We chalked up our 5th win  (out of 6 games played)of the season by 55 runs and hope to continue the good form against the same team next weekend!
